    Description

    Victrola Granada circa 1925
The Granada was one of four premiere Orthophonic models that were introduced in the late fall of 1925. These machines provided far better sound-quality than any of the earlier Victrola models, with superior frequency response, higher volume, and a far less "canned" sound quality than was experienced with the previous generation of acoustic phonographs.
The Spanish style Granada introduced a new cabinet configuration that was long and low, where the lid covering the turntable was centered in the top of the case. At each side of the horn was a door that covered the record storage area. The standard Victrola features nickel-plated hardware, automatic record brake, album storage and a quiet double spring motor. The open horn was characteristic of the early models, grill covering was added when the Granada was renamed the Orthophonic Victrola Four - Four in the fall of 1926.
According to the included purchase agreement, this phonograph was bought in Mount Pleasant, IA on
December 18, 1925. My guess is it was someone's Christmas present.
This machine has been professionally serviced including cleaning, critical bearings polished, mainsprings pulled and re-greased. It is a great running machine, ready for another 100 years.
Structurally the cabinet is in great condition. The finish has its share of age related blemishes, but still looks good. Check the photos and attached video to judge for yourself.
It measures about 34" wide, 33 1/2" high and 22" deep.
Included is a binder of ten 10" records of a variety of styles/artists. Hear one of them play in the video - "De Granada A Sevilla", it just seemed fitting.
I will include a packet of 100 new phonograph needles as well.
Local pickup is preferred, but will drop off/deliver within 150 miles of Iowa City, Iowa. It is too large to safely ship.
