Description
This auction is for an excellent 1950s vintage Faber-Castell fountain pen model 5564-M. The "M" stands for medium nib. The pen's in excellent condition and just restored a few weeks ago. (I would have listed it earlier but it's been living in my pocket). All internal parts (piston assembly) are smooth and tight. I made sure it was spotlessly clean inside, added a thin sheen of silicone grease and reassembled the pen. The see-through portion of the barrel is nice and clear. The nib is actually removable type much like a Pelikan where the nib and feed are fitted into a threaded tube. When restoring this type of pen, I always remove and inspect all the parts, cleaning them with a toothbrush and Dawn soap to make sure it functions as the factory intended 65 years ago.The only dig against the pen is that the cap band has brassing, with gold plating loss mostly focused in one place about .25 inches long. Otherwise, it's in remarkable condition.
The 14k #3 nib is smooth, rather flexible, and has a slight left oblique lean to it, though it writes just was well straight on or turned a bit. The pen measures about 5.25 inches in length and is right at the same diameter as my full size 1930 Sheaffer Balance shown with it in the second to last pic (Sheaffer not included, sorry).
