    Description

I recently acquired this VV-XVI G cabinet. According to the Victor Data Book, it was made in 1913 and is a G. The plate says : 94642 G. Unfortunately, somebody cut up the motor board to make an entertainment center out of the cabinet. I took off the doors and all the remaining hardware. The Victrola motor and horn and record storage rack are also gone.
I am listing this because of how beautiful the cross sawn grain is, AND because this was not just another golden oak finished Victrola. The Victor Data Book lists 6 exotic dark oak finishes offered by Victor. I am not sure which one this was, so I am not going to specify. If there is no interest, I will cut this up to save the cross sawn panels and use it for furniture purposes.
I will be listing the excellent condition doors (magnificent grain as well) and hardware later in the weekend. They include gold plated door handles, a gold plated top strut - hold open, gold plated hinges, a gold plated crank escutcheon, and all the gold plated screws that go with the hardware. I will sell the ID plate eventually, as well. If you look at my pics of the inside of the lid and the inside of the doors (subsequent listing), you will see the finish was almost a gun metal gray or light charcoal. Whomever did the butchery, also tried to lighten and clean up most of the outside of the cabinet, either by stripping or a cleaning product. The original finish was very unique, probably less than 1% of Victrolas were finished in this fashion. This Victrola is worth saving.
Local pickup on the cabinet. If you need shipping, I will drop off at a shipping company.
